SLEMAN – Al Azhar 67 Junior High School warmly welcomed its inaugural batch of students with a vibrant three-day orientation program from July 15 to July 17. The activity entitled “Building Strong Faith to Prepare Future Leader” marked a significant milestone for the new international junior high school in Yogyakarta.
The first day commenced with an atmosphere of anticipation as students gathered for the teacher and school introduction session, where they were acquainted with their mentors and the school's administrative team. A heartfelt welcoming ceremony followed, emphasizing the school's values and its commitment to academic excellence and holistic education. Representatives from Al Azhar shared insights into the institution's history and mission, setting the tone for the students' educational journey.
Parents played a pivotal role on the first day, with a heartfelt testimony and valuable advice shared by a representative, underscoring the importance of parental involvement in their children's academic pursuits.
On the second day, students participated in the Festival Muharram, celebrating the Islamic New Year with various activities that highlighted cultural significance and community spirit. A thought-provoking talk show addressed issues pertinent to teenagers, fostering open dialogue and understanding among peers. The day culminated in an overview of the school's comprehensive curriculum, providing students with a roadmap for their academic growth and development.
The third day began with a serene Duha prayer, marking a moment of reflection and spiritual connection for the students. This was followed by a lively marching exercise, promoting discipline and teamwork among the student body. The announcement of Festival Muharram winners added a competitive edge, showcasing students' talents and achievements. Clear explanations of school rules and regulations ensured that students understood their responsibilities within the school community.
A highlight of the orientation was the interactive session on art and culture presented by visiting students from Northern Illinois University, enriching the students' understanding of global perspectives and fostering cultural exchange.
As the orientation concluded, students eagerly anticipated the next phase of their journey with a diagnostic test scheduled for July 18, designed to assess their academic strengths and areas for growth.
Principal Iyut Ayudya MPd expressed enthusiasm about the successful orientation, stating, "We are thrilled to welcome our students to Al Azhar 67 Junior High School. The orientation program has laid a strong foundation for their academic and personal growth, and we look forward to supporting them in achieving their fullest potential."
